While beginning the composition of this article, I was contacted by Chillicothe Gazette reporter Kate Giammarise who had been on a tour of the armory with three city council members Wednesday. Her Thursday, May 5th article can be found online. She was looking for its history, but I gave her some preservationsist opinion, which she also included.
Timing is everything! While one archaeological field school came to its close, another began, and students of both attended the first in the annual Summer Lecure Series at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park ("Mound City"). That made it an SRO event ("Standing Room Only" - or "Sitting Room Only," if you're a hardy archaeologist).
