Plans call for the arcaded front porch to remain. |
The front porch will be left intact, however, acting as an arcade to screen the parking lot that will take the place of the house. The church plans to build an addition on the site in a few years.
Other parts of the house will also be preserved. A new architectural salvage company, Scioto Salvage, has been communicating with the church to save various parts of the building, including fireplaces and radiators, for resale.
The glass-roofed bay window on the side of the house may be salvaged before demolition. |
Stone columns separating windwows are one of many ornaments on the exterior. |
The last canal warehouse at Water and Walnut streets, of which I wrote a few months ago, was auctioned October 31st. Dard Hunter of Dard Hunter Studios bought the building and has already been repairing the roof and putting the building to good use.
