The Ohio Flags of Honor is a display created to honor the 106 Ohio soldiers killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Two Ross Countians killed in Iraq last year Gavin Colburn, of Frankfort, and Aaron Reed of Chillicothe, as well as Kevin Ott of Pickaway County are among those memorialized.

Posting of the KIA flags and shouting of names began at 4:30 pm with an Army National Guard blackhawk helicopter performing a tribute flyover at 5:00 pm to open the program.  The Post 62 and Post 108 Color Guards were joined by the U.S. Military Recruiting Command in posting the colors.  Speakers included Chillicothe Mayor, Joe Sulzer, Ross County Commissioners President, Jim Caldwell, Pickaway County Commissioners President, Ula Jean Metzler and Ross County Sheriff, Ron Nichols.

The Colburn, Ott and Reed families were presented with memorial flags and poles bearing the names of their sons.  (click here to see photos)
