About Us

Old Hickle Place was established as a residence in 1846 by Samuel Hickle with the purchase of the property from Pam's great, great, great, great grandfather, Abraham Buchwalter. Initially, a log house was built on the north end of the property with the existing barn and a Victorian Italianate house built later by Samuels's son Jacob. In 1963, the farm once again became owned by a Bookwalter descendant when Walter E. and Barbara Bookwalter Petzel purchased the property. Currently Tom and Pamela Petzel Snyder reside at the Old Hickle Place.
