Whole beef, ½ beef or ¼ beef is available in limited quantity. Usually the animals will be harvested at 18 month of age. The hanging carcass will be hung for 14 days with the hanging weight averaging 450 lbs. The meat will be cut and packaged to your specifications. The beef will be harvested at the Circleville Fast Freeze in Circleville, Ohio, 161 Edison Ave. (740) 474-2701. Cost will range from $1.50 to $2.50 per lb. plus your cost for processing.

The Producer certifies that the beef marketed by him has been raised and finished in accordance with the recommendations and guidelines provided by the American Highland Cattle Association and as outlined below.

1. The animals are purebred Highland steers, heifers or bulls.

2. The animals have been raised and handled in a humane manner.

3. No added hormones, anabolic steroids or sub therapeutic feed antibiotics have been applied/fed to the animals.

4. The animals will be slaughtered between 14 and 36 months of age, except for bulls whose maximum age is 24 months.

5. The minimum live weight requirement is 900 pounds and the minimum carcass weight is 450 pounds.

6. The carcasses will hang a minimum of 14 days, depending on backfat.

7. Finishing during the final 90 days should be such that each animal gains at least 1.5 pounds per day.
